Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 October 2025

1. Introduction

Core Athletics Australia (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy.
We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in how we handle personal information.

This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data — including how we use de-identified testing data to develop long-term performance benchmarks for our clients.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

  • Personal details: name, date of birth, address, contact information, and parent/guardian details (for minors).

  • Health and safety information: relevant medical details needed for safe participation.

  • Performance and testing data: results from athletic tests, training metrics, and physical assessments.

  • De-identified data: data that has been stripped of personal identifiers and used for long-term analysis.

3. Collection from Minors and Consent

As most participants are under 18 years of age, we require parent or guardian consent before collecting, using, or disclosing a child’s personal information.

By enrolling a child in any Core Athletics Australia program, the parent or guardian consents to:

  • The collection and use of the child’s information for participation, safety, and communication purposes.

  • The long-term retention and analysis of de-identified performance data for research, benchmarking, and program development.

We also encourage open discussion with participants (in age-appropriate terms) about how their data is used.

4. How We Collect Information

We collect information:

  • Directly from you or your child during registration, assessments, or communication.

  • Through testing tools, tracking systems, and performance analysis platforms used in our programs.

  • From parents or guardians completing enrolment forms or health declarations.

5. Why We Collect Information

We collect personal and performance information to:

  • Deliver and manage our athletic and testing programs.

  • Communicate with parents, guardians, and participants.

  • Monitor progress and ensure participant wellbeing.

  • Analyse program outcomes and improve our services.

We also retain de-identified data indefinitely to create and maintain normative datasets that enhance our understanding of athletic development across age groups.

6. Use of De-identified Data

  • De-identified data cannot reasonably identify any individual.

  • It may be combined with other participant data to produce aggregate insights (e.g. average fitness benchmarks).

  • It may be used in internal research, program reporting, or public materials such as performance summaries or presentations.

  • De-identified data may be stored indefinitely to inform long-term analysis and service improvement.

7. How We Protect Your Information

We take reasonable steps to protect all personal and de-identified data from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access.

Our safeguards include:

  • Secure electronic storage and access control.

  • Limited access for authorised staff only.

  • Separate storage of personal and de-identified data.

8. Disclosure of Information

We will only share personal information:

  • With your consent (or that of a parent/guardian for minors).

  • When required or authorised by law.

  • If necessary to prevent or reduce a serious threat to life, health, or safety.

De-identified, aggregated data may be shared with research partners or sporting organisations, but this information will never identify individuals.

9. Access and Correction

You (or your child’s parent/guardian) may request access to or correction of personal information at any time.
We’ll take reasonable steps to ensure your information is accurate, complete, and up to date.

Requests can be made via the contact details below.

10. Retention of Data

  • Personal data is retained only as long as required for service delivery and legal compliance.

  • De-identified data may be held indefinitely to support ongoing research and performance benchmarking.

11. International Storage

Where data is processed or stored by third-party services outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to ensure those providers comply with Australian privacy standards.
