Accessibility Statement — Core Athletics Australia

Last updated: 10 October 2025

Commitment to accessibility

Core Athletics Australia is committed to ensuring that our website, digital services, and associated content are accessible to all people, including those with disability. We strive to provide an inclusive online experience in accordance with Australian legal obligations, international standards, and best practice guidelines.

Legal and standards context

  • In Australia, the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) makes it unlawful to discriminate against people on the basis of disability in the provision of services, including digital services.

  • The Australian Human Rights Commission interprets the DDA as requiring organisations to make “reasonable adjustments” so that persons with disabilities can access services on an equal basis.

  • We aim to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at Level AA, as recommended by the Australian Human Rights Commission and adopted in Australian digital accessibility guidance. (Australian Human Rights Commission)

  • We also take into account AS EN 301 549 (Australia’s adoption of the European ICT accessibility standard) in our procurement and design of ICT systems. (Centre For Accessibility Australia)

Status of compliance

We continuously work to improve the accessibility of our site and services. While we strive for full compliance, some parts of the website may not yet fully conform to WCAG Level AA:

  • Some older PDFs, Word documents or downloadable files may not have fully accessible structure (e.g. headings, tags).

  • Some third-party content or embedded elements (e.g. maps, widgets) may not meet all accessibility criteria.

  • Multimedia content may not always include alternative formats (e.g. transcripts, captions) though efforts are underway to address this.

When we cannot make content fully accessible immediately, we provide alternatives or take reasonable steps to offer equivalent access.

What we do to improve accessibility

  • We conduct regular accessibility audits (automated testing and manual reviews) of our site.

  • We follow the four principles of accessibility: perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. (Australian Human Rights Commission)

  • We include accessibility requirements in our procurement policies for third-party tools, plugins, and software.

  • We train our staff and content creators in accessible content creation (e.g. writing in plain language, proper headings, alternative text for images).

  • We involve people with diverse accessibility needs to test and critique accessibility of our services.

  • When new features or designs are released, accessibility is part of the development cycle (design, testing, rollout).

Third-party content and links

Some content on our site may be provided by third parties (e.g. embedded videos, data tables, partner systems). While we require accessibility where possible, we cannot always guarantee full compliance of third-party content. We will make reasonable efforts to provide equivalent access or notify users of known limitations.

Review and updates

We regularly review this accessibility statement and our accessibility practices. Updates to this statement will be published here and the “last updated” date will be revised accordingly.
